O Desenho é uma das principais ferramentas de um criativo e de um artista, base de desenvolvimento criativo, pesquisa, o primeiro passo para materializar uma ideia.
As três obras da autoria do artista António Soares dos Reis, patentes no Museu, foram o ponto de partida e inspiração para a criação de uma peça de joalharia contemporânea, apesar do mesmo ser reconhecidamente notável na área de escultura, manteve também uma forte relação com o desenho.
Optei, assim, por desenvolver um objeto com uma estreita ligação ao desenho, um livro de artista, incorporando a imagem desfragmentada de Firmino, modelo da aula de nu nas Belas Artes e estudante de escultura.
O objetivo foi o de trabalhar sobre a fotografia da escultura de Firmino, os contrastes de luz e sombra, manipular o papel translúcido salientando as texturas da pedra.
A linha vermelha que sublinha parte do perfil, é o elemento usado para fechar o livro de artista.

Who uses a pencil to the end?
Respect for the material, graffiti, aversion to waste or the profitability of resources,
They are marks of the past that can and should be rescued with new meaning and responsibility.
More than proposing an artefact, we sought to respond to the challenge and add value in the ecological, economic and social domains.
This proposal is based on the transfer of knowledge and the implementation of a proactive activity: educating artistic values and supporting personal fulfilment.
The recycling and upcycling strategy meets emerging ecological, economic or social concerns. Function deviation is the central topic here.
Recycle and create a job with fair remuneration: rediscover a poor material, exploring its richness in plasticity, memory, and identity.
Each piece is unique, given the diversity of pencil scraps, the difference in size,
shape, colour, graphic particularities or signs of use.
The use of leftover defective pencils from Viarco, the donation in schools, among families with drawers to explore, among friends with forgotten boxes, or even in interinstitutional campaigns strengthen social ties, defragment relationships, bring knowledge, and renew the sense of belonging.
Each new pencil composition on a necklace is a concentration of memories that can make a difference, a wealth of life stories that new material does not yet have.
Add the remaining material and industrial and domestic waste of wires and filaments for various functions.
And materials, such as plastic, electrical, and metallic wires, for assembling the necklaces.
We see all this in an empathetic and synergistic relationship, in which each user stimulates creativity in others and the desire to participate in this process/project through contagion, imitation, deviation, challenge, opportunity, difference, and sharing.

Luís Mendonça
Luís Mendonça nasceu em Maputo, em 1965. É designer, professor e investigador na Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto. É membro do ID+ Instituto de Investigação em Design Media e Cultura e da ELOS – Associação Galego-Portuguesa de Investigação em Literatura Infantil e Juvenil da Universidade de Santiago de Compostela.
Com atividade multifacetada e premiada, desenvolve trabalho multidisciplinar nos domínios do Design de Comunicação, Design de Produto, Design Social, Empreendedorismo, Ilustração, Cenografia, Arquitetura, Museografia ou Escultura. Da curadoria à edição, da escultura pública ao produto industrial, das oficinas tradicionais à tecnologia contemporânea, desenvolve projetos marcados pela transversalidade.
Gémeo Luís é pseudónimo de Luís Mendonça. Ilustrador destacado e premiado nacional e internacionalmente, tem ilustrado autores consagrados e novos autores. Tem trabalho publicado em diversas editoras, jornais e revistas de referência. Desenvolve ilustração numa diversidade de meios, materiais, escalas e contextos. Colabora regularmente com instituições culturais, bibliotecas, escolas, museus, na realização de palestras e workshops. Está representado em coleções públicas e privadas, dentro e fora do país.

Luís Mendonça was born in Maputo in 1965. He is a designer, professor and researcher at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto. He is a member of the ID+ Institute for Research in Design Media and Culture and the ELOS – Galician-Portuguese Association for Research in Children’s and Young People’s Literature at the University of Santiago de Compostela.
With multifaceted and award-winning activity, he develops multidisciplinary work in Communication Design, Product Design, Social Design, Entrepreneurship, Illustration, Scenography, Architecture, Museography and Sculpture. From curating to editing, from public sculpture to industrial products, from traditional workshops to contemporary technology, he develops projects marked by transversality.
Gémeo Luís is the pseudonym of Luís Mendonça. A prominent and award-winning illustrator nationally and internationally, he has illustrated established and new authors. His work has been published in various publishers, newspapers, and reference magazines. He develops illustrations in diverse media, materials, scales, and contexts. He regularly collaborates with cultural institutions, libraries, schools, and museums, holding lectures and workshops. His work is represented in public and private collections, inside and outside the country.
